Chesapeake bank
Being a community bank means everything to Chesapeake Bank. Before moving into the Richmond market in 2015, Chesapeake Bank spent over 100 years getting involved in the community, understanding the needs of the area and finding actionable ways to make a real difference.
When it came time to move to Westhampton, Chesapeake Bank applied the same philosophy. Before their doors even opened, the Chesapeake Bank team was making an impact: from renovating a building in need of TLC into a state-of-the-art bank to commissioning a local artist to paint murals along Patterson Avenue to beautify the area during construction. The team was also hard at work meeting community leaders and business owners to understand the history of Westhampton and the needs of the community.
Since opening in September 2015, Chesapeake Bank’s commitment has continued to grow. Through Party on the Avenues sponsorships, #ICareAbout Happy Hours, the Westwood Playground Clean-up initiative, Richmond Kickers Community Ticket Program and the Fetch-A-Cure Bow Tie Open, Chesapeake Bank weaves philanthropy into its everyday work – proving it’s more than just a bank.
Chesapeake Bank’s history goes back to 1900 off the shores of the Northern Neck. A community bank from day one, it’s first customers were fisherman, farmers and small business owners. Today, the bank has 14 branch locations in the Northern Neck, Williamsburg, Richmond and the Middle Peninsula regions. For eight years running, Chesapeake Bank has been recognized by American Banker magazine as one of the "Top 200 Community Banks" in the country based on return on equity. And more recently, the bank placed 21st on American Banker’s prestigious ranking of “Best Banks to Work For.”
